Chokwé, Mozambique Chokwé, Mozambique

Situated in the most environmentally risk-prone region in Mozambique: the Limpopo River Basin, Chokwé is highly exposed to natural hazards especially floods. Due to its high level of exposure and sensitivity to natural hazards and low level of capacity, the city of Chokwé (around 65 000 inhabitants) was identified as a potential candidate for the testing of the CityRAP tool. The DiMSUR team supported the Municipality of Chokwé to develop its City Resilience Action Plan including priority actions as well as short, medium and long term activities. The process also enables to develop the capacity of the municipality to understand and plan actions that progressively build urban resilience and reduce disaster risks.
